NTU Compassion In Action Run 2010

经过2月的自我训练,我联同Kok Hui和耀明携手参加NTUBS CIA RUN。

数码电子表显示8.15分，Chinese Heritage Centre外的参赛者磨拳擦掌，准备着待会的小跑。我举目四望，猛地注视着一名男子。此男气定神闲,眼中却燃烧着熊熊烈火般的战意:一身轻便白衣装的他,左手臂上系着小黑包。他给我的感觉是高深莫测。

看着跃跃欲试的参赛者,心头转过无数念头,虽然是一个小跑,但也是一考验意志力的磨练。紧紧系上鞋绳,把脚固定在脚趾可以伸展的位置后,随着主办单位的音乐热身。

"bibo,bibo"的火警声响起,点燃了大伙的斗志,凝气一冲,我紧随着人群,以一贯的慢跑为后面的艰辛路线铺路。不出所料,白衣男一马当先,领着群雄冲上那该死的SBS斜坡,优雅的跑姿仿佛练了千万遍似的,随着奇妙但整齐的旋律而进.瞬间,他华丽的身影在我视线范围消失无踪。

调整着呼吸节奏,我与Kok HUi并肩而上,加速越过数人,向前迈进。脑海中闪过培南跑山鼻祖-开华的传承,"遇山忍,储气步行;平地欺,发力奔跑!"谨遵教诲:小跑一会,快步而上。斜坡一过,即发力。未几,耀明紧随而上。跑了好一会,甜美笑容的女委员递上矿泉水。在前方等待我们的是一望无际的长跑路程。拼了!

沿途的各路好汉放慢步伐回气。我提气而上,加快步伐,然后紧随着三男。骤然,一辆货车从旁驶出,车上的瘦男眯着眼,目光锐利如鹰,手指飞速的按下相机的快门,尺度拿捏的分毫不差。听着"嗒,嗒,嗒"声由远而近,一英姿飒爽的女子气势汹汹狂奔而来,她猛地挥挥双手,等待着快门的卡嚓声响。看来拍照的魅力还不是盖的.....

越过了那平行的长跑路程,就是一斜斜而上,通往SRC的的蜿蜒曲路。又是一个该死的斜坡,无奈的稍作休息才再拼过。过了SRC就是平坦大道了。熟悉的1号宿舍在我的瞳孔中渐渐变得清晰,是时候撒手一搏了。瘦男再次鬼魅似如影随影的出现,但我已无暇管他了。



突然,耳边响起了相似的"嗒,嗒,嗒"声,是谁呢?
如催命钟声般的脚步声由远而近,我猛地吸气,迈大步伐,加速向前急奔，脚步声缓缓的淡去。一小小的斜坡耸立在眼前,被逼慢下,我喘了一会,才一鼓作气跑下去。Event的帮手在终点呐喊"好样的,100+在前方等着你们!"呼,终于到了,感觉还蛮不赖的。

不得不说，NTUBS办得还不错，在安全措施和路标方面尽求完善，每隔一段路，就有委员待机而动。完赛后还可享用香蕉，100+，能量棒。美中不足的是参赛人数太少。。。最大的受获是和朋友并肩作战的感觉，不过我们对自己的表现不甚满意因为尚不能一鼓作气跑完全程，务求百尺竿头，更进一步。。白衣男，等我们！！

如何成为世界同用的人才--即战力

2nd book review on Kenichi Ohmae

For years, i had watched ppl shine like star in their career,and was filled with "thumb up" feeling. And thanks to this book, i have desire to make my dream come true!

This book is simple and enlightening. It describes the current challenging working force and how we gonna tackle it. The 3 main criteria in being a successful candidate are:

1. Language ---English
2. Financial planning
3. Problem solving skill

1. Listen,speak then write should be the proper sequence in learning a brand new language. As long as our English is communicable, it is good enough. The 100% accurate pronounciation leave to Language Professional :P.

2. Focus on B/S,but not P/L. Learn how to "use" our property. Stock is 1 of the best choice. Keypoint: study particular of stock and common knowledge in investing, study together with friends and observe the world market trend.

3. Where the problem from? > what's it > why it happens > Setup "IF take A action, will it work > Verify IF. Don't make decision based on 6th sense.

Above are the basic description of the main criteria. Few methods are introduced for assistance. Setup annual learning topic (can refer to movement of finance). Launch it by using 5 senses, analyze following 3. Observe the FACT using own eye.

Discussion skill is a must to survive. Meeting is to find solution!

Design whole life plan. On the way, set a target on age 40, plan by reversing from age 40 for short term and long term target. Do suitable purchases in suitable place for own target. Example: buy or rent house in Singapore? Make decision ownself based on the economic in Singapore.

Once again, thanks Kenichi Ohmae for writing a splendid book. Do discover more yourself. This will be a long long journey. Practice make perfect, let action now :D.

The Lesson On How To Create

As recommended by Lim, i look for Kenichi Ohmae's books. I get this book and would like to write a book review.

Kenichi illustrated his brilliant idea in a flow of steps. Think out of the box is the core concept of the book. By giving live examples: The establishment of BBT educational organisation by Kenichi, he introduced the concept of teaching MBA course through online. It sounds like a simple idea but that's a lot behind the invention of the idea.

1st, Kenichi view the world as a subject. He understand that the only chance for people who enthusiastic in learning MBA are studying in America or western countries. It costs a bomb for the working professionals which include the living expenses, transport expenses,etc. Kenichi established BBT as he see the chance of creating a platform for ppl around the world!

2nd, Kenichi talked about "network". The search engine--Google has done a splendid job in displaying information from different parties to public. Internet users currently look for website which can do comparisons between goods from different brands.

3rd, "create unique product w/o substitution". Founder of CNN provide the only one channel which broadcast news 24 hours from day to night. The presentation of live scene and news in front of public provide information in every second. This is a new approach which stun other channel distributors and bring in countless wealth for CNN.

4th, "learn from the history". Japan is one of the country which export lots of goods into US market in 1980's. US residents are not comfortable with the situation and detest strongly against Japan. However, the firm standing of Japan in continuous exporting their goods protect them from kicking out of enormous US market.

5th, "thinking on behalf of your competitor". Kenichi describe how we can interprete the logic behind some "facts" when we think on the behalf of different party.

Final chapter --"Discussion". Live discussion based on FACT and continuous feedback on same topic enhance thinking skill. Proper preparation time for students to research info and facts are greatly implemented in the flow of discussion. By reading same book and bring out to discuss is an alternative method in improving thinking. Mixture of professionals from different field in discussion are effective in giving a new insight to participants.

Summary: Kenichi has introduced a flow of thinking process which suit the new generation in preparing themselves to sustain the always changing and competitive world. Thumbs up to Kenichi Ohmae.
